Wine is about the shared pleasures of life — slowing down long enough to appreciate the blessings of the land while enjoying local food and wine with friends, family and community. That’s where we began. We take our inspiration and name from the majestic, 400 year-old oak tree, known as the Wedding Oak Tree, which grows about 2.5 miles northwest from the winery. The stately tree has been the symbolic site of numerous ceremonies and weddings, beginning with Native Americans on to early settlers and continuing to this day. It reminds us of the importance of nature, the importance of place and the importance of celebrating relationships. Our Texas roots run deep.In Oct 2011, viticulturist Mike McHenry and a group of friends began construction on Wedding Oak Winery with the passion to bring the burgeoning Texas wine industry to the heart of small town Texas. We opened our historic 1926 tasting room and 10,000 case winery, located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 190 and State Highway 16, on June 1, 2012. We are proud to be a central part of the renaissance of San Saba. Just as the casual beauty, friendly personalities and relaxing hospitality defines small town Texas, Wedding Oak Winery is committed to making 100% Texas-grown wines that celebrate our Texas terroir and wine-growing conditions. Our Texas-born winemaker artfully makes our wines with grapes grown in our own estate vineyards, as well winery-managed Texas Hill Country vineyards and Texas High Plains vineyards. We’re proud to bring you Texas wines of distinction suitable for celebrations and every-day drinking. Come on in. Slow down and sip for a while. |
Winery
The Los Pinos Winery we strive to make the best wines possible from grapes grown in our vineyards, but never do we lose sight of just having fun. It’s why Los Pinos Winery was designed to be a haven where thoughtful people can connect, relax, decompress and enjoy an unhurried glass of wine. Enjoy a bottle, glass or a flight of wine in our Tasting Room & Gift Shop in our new location in Fredericksburg. Our Estate Vineyards Los Pinos produces wines from grapes grown in our estate vineyards, as well as from three Vineyards in west Texas. There are two varietals planted on our winery property, Blanc Du Bois and Black Spanish. These varieties grow well in east Texas, as they are resistant to disease pressures that are inherent in our region, and are made into dry, semi-sweet and sweet wines. Los Pinos estate white grapes are harvested by hand during the final week of July, and reds are normally ready mid to late August, but the actual day is dictated by the grapes. We encourage volunteers to come help with the harvest, those who appreciate the value of each little grape’s life, as well as rise early enough to arrive in the vineyard on time, 6 am! Our Chef puts out a spread after we are done with the harvest, and the wine flows too! Our West Texas Vineyards Our West Texas Vineyards are located in the best wine grape growing region in the State, and has been designated as the Texas High Plains AVA. It has been discovered, that this Texas AVA has perfect growing conditions for Italian wine grape varietals. Los Pinos has planted successful varietals of Sangiovese and Muscat Canelli at the Twin T Vineyard site, and Vermentino at Lost Draw Vineyard, both located in Brownfield Texas. The Diamante Doble Vineyard is where our Dolcetto Vineyard is, near Tokio Texas. When the grapes are harvested, in September and October, they are immediately placed in refrigerated trucks, then on to our winery in East Texas. We believe our West Texas Vineyards over the years will continue to bring finer, more elegant edge of quality to our wines. |
